Eurasian Schools Debating Championship 2012

_The first Eurasian Schools Debating Championship was held last year, in prestigious schools and universities of the magnificent city of Istanbul. Eurasian Schools Debating Championship 2012 will take place between the 13-20 June, with the attendance of high school teams and schools from all around the world. The tournament will again be in the format of World Schools Debating Championship, to increase the number of international participants. The tournament will have world-famous judges.
What is special about ESDC?

Results of the 13th Turkish National Debating Results

Galatasaray C (Mehmet Fatih Özmısırcı- Mert Kejanlıoğlu) have won the 2011 Turkish National Debating Championships. 

In the final they defeated Galatasaray B (Nilsun Gürsoy - Umur Türkay Korkmaz), Bilkent B (Önercan Kılıç - Gökhan Yalçın) and Yeditepe C (Meriç Menekşeli - Çiğdem Gül Koluaçık)

The best speaker of the tournament was: Akın Egemen (Galatasaray A)

Ankara Open 2011 International debating Championship‏

In March 2011 we will be organizing the 3rd Ankara Open International Debate Tournament. The tournament will be held between 25-27 March in Ankara, Turkey. As those who attended Ankara Open 2008 and 2009 can testify, we do our best to offer a high quality tournament with debaters from different geographies.

The Gardeners(Engin Arikan-Onercan Kilic) won Koç2010 Istanbul International Debating Championship in 1-5 September


In the final, they won againts Koç No ! ( Ozan Mert Ondes- Akın Egemen), Koç Astral( Faruk Aktay- Berkay Ozludil) and York B ( Nathan Paulson-Mark Schofield)

The 2010 Turkish National Debating Championships were held recently.  Here are the results:

It will take place in 28-29-30 November.

This is the last big chance before Cork Worlds to improve your debating skills.You will also get the opportunity to join the trainings and seminars which will be given by our experienced judges.

Koç2008 Results

"The Gardeners" (Önercan Kılıç and Engin Arıkan) beat MGIMO? (Maria Savostinova and Mikhail Sazonov), Bilkent (Ali Avcı and Denizhan Kılıç) and "The True Farewell" (Ozan Mert Öndeş and Işıl Yelkenci) in the final of Koç Summer IV 2008.

The best speaker of the tournament is Işıl Yelkenci of "The True Farewell".


The final was chaired by Samir Deger-sen and the panelists are J. Scott Rodriguez, Oğuzhan Keskin, Leela Koenig, Alex Hill, David Tite and Amanda Whiting.

As we announced before registration per participant (including judges) is €90. Deadline for registration is July 15th.

Koç Debate Club – the hosts of EUDC 2007 and the prospective hosts of WUDC 2010 – proudly presents another great debating event this summer: Istanbul 2008!

The first requirement of a good tournament is, of course, quality adjudication. In order to ensure this, Our Chief Adjudicator will be Samir Deger-Sen (2008 Worlds Champion, 2007 Euros Semi-Finalist, 2007 Oxford IV DCA),

Almost as important as – or even maybe more important than – debating in a debate tournament is the fun part: Socials! IDEA teaching position

Hi All,
International Debate Education Association (IDEA) announces an open position for a Worlds Schools Debate Instructor for the 2008 Debate and Citizen Journalism Institute in Dikili Town, Turkey June 29th-July 19th. The Institute is college-accredited from Bloomfield College in New Jersey, U.S. and endorsed by the National Forensics League in the U.S. The Institute offers courses in Advanced, Beginning, and Coaching Debate in addition to Media and Journalism training.

This year, IDEA is adding British Parliamentary and World Schools Debate emphases to its lineup and seeks an experienced Worlds Schools debate coach to teach two classes. Instructors are compensated and reimbursed for airfare. The position begins immediately, and the selected instructor would need to be in Dikili Town, Turkey from June 28th-July 19th.

This Debate and CJ Institute draws enthusiastic and dynamic students from throughout the world and is a unique and fun activity for participants and instructors alike. Turkish Nationals

ODTU (METU) won the 2008 Turkish National Debating Championships at the weekend.

Turkish 10th Nationals were held in Uludağ University between 1-5 May 2008. It was a fantastic tournament where a high level of competetion took place. Among the distinguished teams Finalists were:

Ankara Open 2008

"Pass the Dutch" (Eric Stam & Rob Honig) team has won the Ankara Open 2008 hosted by the Middle East Technical University, Turkey.

The motions were
1st round: THBT the usage of images of Prophet Mohammed should be banned.
2nd round: TH would trade with African Nations regardless of their social development goals.
3rd round: THBT parents who have had one child taken into care should be prevented from having another.
4th round: THBT all jobs should pay equally.
5th round: THW extend punishment for those convicted of corruption to family members who profit from that corruption.
Semi Final: TH supports an independent Tibet.
Grand Final: THW reduce the size of the state.

We thank all the competing teams and our adjudication panel (Neill Harvey-Smith, Nicholas James Long, G.Rhydian Morgan) for their great effort and contributions.

Istanbul 2006 results

The hybrid team of Niall Kennedy & Jenni Harrison won Istanbul 2006.

In the final they defeated Hybrid (Mert Onen & Robert Ustian), UCC (Derek Lande & Tiernan Fitzgibbon) and Middle Temple (Daniel Warents & Harish Natarajan)

Diramuid Early (UCC) was the best speaker.

Go to the "Tournament" section at the top of the page. "Registration" will be on a first come, first served basis until we reach our team cap (around 72 teams). The fee if you have registered before 15th June is € 75 Euros. (Early reg is only possible when paying, not filling the info form)

And normal registration will be charged as € 95 that means paying on the registraion day.

There is no institutional cap and composite teams are allowed. You can register your details and pay later through one of the routes outlined on the payment page. The electronic transfer is reliable and organised by Koc Bank, one of the most reputable banks in Turkey.
