SSE Riga IV 2011
I have the pleasure to invite you to SSE Riga IV 2011 taking place on 9th and 10th of December 2011.
SSE Riga IV is the oldest and one of the most prestigious debating tournaments in the Central and Eastern Europe. Through the years SSE Riga IV has gained reputation as a tournament that gives the opportunity to enjoy unforgettable socials and top-notch adjudication by some of the best and most successful judges in Europe.
Our CA this year is Hugh Burns (the winner of the Euros 2011 in Galway and the finalist of Euros 2010 in Amsterdam, as well as the winner of the Manchester IV and the Bristol Open, who also reached the final of Worlds, the Trinity IV, The Durham/Newcastle IV and the Birmingham IV). As one of the DCAs we’ll have Martin Küüsmaa (ESL semifinalist at Oxford IV 2007, the winner of Kyiv Spring 2007 and the finalist of a number of international tournaments.)
We will have also a number of additional high qualified judges, among them is
* Neil Dewar (judged at worlds (Cork 2009), Durham IV, Yeditepe Open, and Four Nations debating tournament; coached the Scottish World Schools' team that made it to the Semi-final this year, runs the Oxford development squad, coached sessions in Israel, the Netherlands, etc.; got into the finals at Euros twice.)
* Jen Coyne (judged at worlds (Koc 2010), LSE open, Oxford IV, and the Oxford Womens' tournament; run various workshops at all levels at Oxford, broke 4th at worlds in Botswana)
* Martins Vaivars (3rd best ESL speaker in the European University Debating Championships in Newcastle, broke at the main break of Oxford IV 2008, won and became the 2nd best speaker of Cambridge IV 2008 ESL, topped the tab of the Baltic Championships 2009);
* Arvydas Ziobakas (broke at the Oxford IV 2008; won Cambridge IV 2008 ESL as well as broke at EUDC 2009 ESL as the 8th best ESL speaker);
* Anna Karolin (top speaker of all the Baltic tournaments in 2009/2010 season, a two time winner of SSE Riga IV, an ESL semi-finalist and 6th top speaker in Koc Euros, breaking judge in Amsterdam Euros, the CA of Estonian BP championships 2010).

SSE Riga IV is a great way how to prepare for the upcoming WUDC in Manila.
The registration fee is 40 EUR per debater and 30 EUR per adjudicator. However, we are ready to offer considerable discounts for teams and judges that are having large travel costs or that have remarkable achievements.

The registration process is halfway finished, and we are pleased to say that more than 30 teams have already confirmed their participation, with new people applying every day. Our judging pool includes such famous debaters as Martins Vaivars, Will Jones, and Jens Fischer, and the beautiful city of Riga is ready to welcome you with its renowned hospitality and exciting nightlife.

SSE Riga IV 2010 - debate tournament in Latvia
SSE Riga IV is the oldest and one of the most prestigious debating tournaments in Central and Eastern Europe. It is renowned as a tournament that gives the opportunity to enjoy unforgettable socials and top-notch adjudication by some of the best and most successful judges in Europe.
This year's Chief Adjudicator is Martins Vaivars, the 3rd best ESL speaker of EUDC 2009. Our DCAs do not need any additional comments: Will Jones, the winner of EUDC and WUDC, and Jens Fischer, the current president of the EUDC council. We will also have a number of high qualified judges such as Mark Manson, Yuri Romanenkov, and Arvydas Ziobakas.

General details: CA: Arvydas Ziobakas – a long term member of the SSE Riga Debate Society, Oxford IV 2008 quarter finalist, the ESL champion of Cambridge IV 2008, the 8th best ESL speaker of EUDC 2009.
DCA: Will Jones - reigning WUDC champion, the champion of EUDC 2008.
Registration fee: 70 EUR per team and 30 EUR per adjudicator. n-1 ruleis applied for the teams from the Baltics.

SSE Riga & LMT IV 2008
For ten years maintaining high quality debating and competent judging accompanied by lavish socials with unlimited free alcohol and excellent food in the splendid surroundings of the central Riga’s Art Nouveau architecture, SSE Riga & LMT IV has become a real highlight among the events of this kind in Central and Eastern Europe. It will indeed remain such in 2008 captivating with a funky atmosphere, creative flare and passion for controversy only Riga can offer.
While keeping the cornerstone aspects of our traditional package we constantly strive for further enhancements. During this year’s event we will be delighted to accommodate you at the 5-star Radisson SAS hotel.
Delivering our promise of fair and professional adjudication Co-CAs of the tournament - Nick Devlin, the former director of Debating at the Cambridge Union Society, and Yuri Romanenkov, the ESL finalist at WUDC 2007 in Vancouver, are in the process of selecting a pool of highly qualified adjudicators. It already includes Debbie Newman, a former president of the Cambridge Union and the coach of the winning team at World Schools 2008, as well as several high profile alumni of the SSE Riga & LMT Debate Society.
We offer this entire package for mere €40 per debater and €20 for adjudicator coming in compliance with n-1 rule.

Riga IV
We are glad to announce that on 7-9 December, for the ninth time SSE Riga LMT Debate Club is hosting its annual debate competition, the oldest of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe.
In 2007, four star accommodation in Central Riga and excellent food will add to our traditional offer of superb judging and enormous amounts of free alcohol. Also, with your help we are committed to making this tournament the first carbon-neutral debate competition in the world.
Neill Harvey-Smith, currently the Director of Education and Training at the Debate Chamber and the CA of the upcoming Tallinn Euros 2008, is going to be the Chief Adjudicator of this year SSE Riga LMT IV. Selected pool of high profile independent adjudicators are going to work along with him to ensure fair and professional adjudication during the tournament.
Registration fees are just at 35 Euros per debater. Registration is free of charge for adjudicators.
Registration for institutions from more distant countries (meaning all countries except Latvia and its geographical neighbors) has opened on 19 September at 23.59 (Riga time: GMT+3). Registration for all institutions opens on 8 October at 13.00 (Riga time). Registration will be closed on 22 November, or when the team cap is reached, whichever is earlier.

Peak Time 2007
We are writing you from Stockholm School of Economics in Riga about International Business Student Competition Peak Time 2007. We believe that in debating society there are many talented people who can make our event more competitive as well as benefit themselves from participation. If you are not interested in entrepreneurship please skip the following information.
Peak Time is the biggest business student competition in the Eastern Europe and is focused on developing entrepreneurial skills, networking and idea exchange. Student teams compete in a thrilling business simulation CESIM used by thousands business universities around the world (www.cesim.com) and solve cases prepared by business professionals in the finals. The event takes place in one of the most exciting cities in Europe – Riga. The participants are accommodated for free in a hotel in Riga city centre. Among many regional supporters we are sponsored by such international companies as Nokia (long term partner) and KPMG. 1st place team prize this year is 3000 EUR. 20 best applying teams will be selected.

Five preliminary rounds of British Parliamentary debating with a break to the quarters.
CA is Nick Devlin, the Director of Debating at the Cambridge Union. Pre-tournament workshops.
