We are glad to announce that on September 18–19, 2010 in the beautiful city of Kyiv (Ukraine) Third Annual International Debate Tournament KYIV OPEN will take place, held by UYNGO “Debate Academy”.
The Tournament is held in British Parliamentary style.
Language – English.
Team cap – 40 teams.
Participation fee €15 for members of UYNGO “Debate Academy”,
€25 for other debaters,
no charge for adjudicators.
Participants are provided with accommodation, food and transfer round our beautiful city.
We insist on N-1 rule.
Chief Adjudicator – Jens Henning Fischer (Head of Berlin Debating Union, prominent debater and adjudicator at Euros and Worlds).
DCA's: Anne Valkering (EUDC finalist and Euros 2010 convenor) and Eugene Akulich (breaking Worlds & Euros adjudicator, WUDC finalist and Moscow Open organizer)
During the Tournament participants will face 5 preliminary, semi-final and final rounds, debate parties with some r-r-real surprise; have an opportunity to communicate with extraordinary people; and feel the unique atmosphere of one of the oldest cities of Europe.
REGISTRATION is OPEN till August, 20.

Kyiv Spring 2010 Debating Tournament
For the eighth year in a row, we'd like to invite you to participate in Kyiv Spring debating tournament on May 1-3, 2010!
We offer five preliminary rounds of British Parliamentary debating, semi-finals and Le Grande Finale.
The name of this year's CA will be announced very soon. In the past, we had the honour to welcome Derek Lande and Will Jones as CAs of Kyiv Spring 2008 and 2009 respectively.
The registration fee is 25 Euros per debater and 15 Euros per adjudicator. The fee covers meals and socials during the tournament.
As for accommodation, you can choose any of the two options: we will either offer you crash or assistance in booking a hostel/apartment on the first come - first serve' basis.
EU citizens don't need a visa to enter Ukraine.

Chief Adjudicator – G. Rhydian Morgan (CA at numerous UK and European tournaments: Euros Warm-Up, Belgrade Open 2008 and Tilbury House 2008, DCA at Ankara Open, European Open winner, well known and highly appreciated lecturer on debates and rhetoric).
DCA's: Uve Poom (EUDC 2007 ESL winner), Sergei Naumoff (Member of IDEA Board) and... a new EUDC 2008 star ;)

Kyiv Spring 2008 Results
Kyiv Spring 2008, the 6th Annual International Debate Tournament has taken place in Kyiv, Ukraine on May 2nd — 4th, 2008. 13 European countries were represented on the tournament. 17 teams debated in Ukrainian language track and 32 teams debated in English language track.
We are happy to announce that Derek Lande was our Chief Adjudicator this year. Kateryna Yablochkova and Leela Koenig assisted Derek as Deputy CAs. Ukrainian language track was covered by Chief Adjudicator Oleksiy Yatsenko and Deputy CA Andriy Kirmach.

Winner — ’16.12’ team, Donetsk (Daria Zhuravska, Danylo Hrachov).

UYNGO FIRE tournament
On March, 28-30 in Kharkiv took place the biggest in the whole Ukrainian debating history International Debate Tournament “FIRE”.
The tournament was conducted by UYNGO “Debate Academy” – an organization established by Ukrainian debaters to develop and coordinate debate movement in Ukraine. It was also supported by Olesya Orobets, who is not only one of the youngest members of Ukrainian Parliament but also a former debater.
The opening ceremony took place on March, 28 at Kharkiv National Skovoroda Pedagogical University. There were 56 participant teams from Ukraine, Russia, Belorussia and Kazakhstan. That made “FIRE” one of the biggest Russian-language international debate tournaments and the largest in Ukraine.
The tournament was conducted by UYNGO “Debate Academy” – an organization established by Ukrainian debaters to develop and coordinate debate movement in Ukraine. It was also supported by Olesya Orobets, who is not only one of the youngest members of Ukrainian Parliament but also a former debater.

The competition included a greeting from the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko:
- “Dear friends!
I greet all the participants and guests of the intellectual-rhetoric game debates, who gathered on the hospitable land of Slobozhanschina.
I wish everyone to show the ability to analyze and persuade with dignity, discover strong and weak sides of certain points, give estimation to facts and consequences from the point of view of their efficiency.
Let this meeting strengthen respect and tolerance to the opposite points of view and contribute to your further realization.”
Teams participated in five preliminary rounds debating the following motions:
- “This house (TH) will prohibit to change sports citizenship”,
- “TH should prohibit mass media to inform society of terrorist organizations’ activities”,
- “TH should prohibit silicone implants”,
- “TH believes that one should divest driving licence for rule of the road persistent delinquency for life”,
- “TH should reform Commonwealth of Independent States”.
The quarter-finals motion was “TH should abandon nuclear-free status” and semi-finals – “TH believes that USA President should be elected through direct elections”.
The Finalists were:
- “We’llalldie” (Anna Kanevskaya & Tamara Babakova) Kiev,
- “16 to 12” (Danil Grachov & Tamara Komissarova) Donetsk,
- “Baltic Lion” (Sergey Naumov & Pyotr Gorovoy-Tkach) St.Petersburg, and
- “Eastside” (Igor Velichko & Anatoliy Fedorchenko) Donetsk\Mariupol.
After debating the motion “This house believes that the president should not have privileges” team “16 to 12” (Danil Grachov & Tamara Komissarova) took the cup and $300. Top-speaker, Sergey Naumov, won a mobile phone. Second place team took $200, and the third and the fourth – $100.
