Birmingham IV 2008

Dear Fellow Debaters,
We are pleased to announce that registration for the Allen and Overy Birmingham IV 2008 is now open. The details of this years competition are as follows:

Date: Friday 12th to Saturday 13th of December 2008.
Cost: £45 per team (judges free)
Format: WORLDS
Team cap: 40

Birmingham is the last UK IV before Worlds in Cork. As such, and in keeping with tradition, it will be held in Worlds format. Speeches will be 7 minutes in length, and motions 'Worlds style'. With World's being held just across the water in Cork this year no doubt many more British teams will be heading to the World Championships, the Birmingham IV provides a great opportunity to get some practise.

Our CA this year will again be Miss Hannah Bush, barrister extraordinaire, Worlds breaking judge, finals panellist of many a British IV and Birmingham alumna. She will be ably assisted by Alex Deane, Alex Ward, Rhydian Morgan and Willard Fox ton amongst others. All of the above have broken at Worlds as speakers and some as judges too. We will be adding to the list over the coming months, if you would like to feature on the it let Hannah know on hannahkatherinebush@hotmail.com.

Your reg fee includes
- guaranteed crash for 2 nights
- Dinner Friday and Sat
- 2 socials
- cash prizes for best speaker and winning team.

In 2006 finalists at the Birmingham IV included 3 speakers who proceeded to make it to the Worlds final. This year, we hope to see more speakers achieving the same feat.
