I heard that the top 5 speakers were all women. Phenomenal effort.

I don't think its quite right to call the success of women a 'phenomenal effort', but it is certainly a watershed and a very good thing. Yet again, Australasian debating demonstrates that it is streaks ahead of the world in terms of the successful participation of female debaters.

No male speaker in the top 5 and the third or fourth year in a row that the best speaker has been a woman. The feminists are always telling us that that level of domination by one sex over another must be the result of a conspiracy. Therefore what efforts will Australs take to address the increasing disadvantage male speakers are facing at Australs?

Yeh, I really do think the female disadvantage thing has been overblown. There is some problem of retention perhaps, and maybe that can justify AA to ensure local discrimination doesn't take place (provided it cuts both ways of course for male numbers), but in terms of top end debaters, it hasn't been a problem for some time.
