The 54th International Final of the John Smith Memorial Mace will take place on April 25th, at the English-Speaking Union's headquarters, Dartmouth House, in Mayfair in London.
The international final will determine the winner from the national champions of England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales at universities' level. Previous winners include Donald Dewar, Charles Kennedy, and John Smith, after whom the competition was named in 1995.
The evening will run from 18:30-22:00, beginning with a drinks reception and ending with drinks and a fork buffet.
Please contact Patrick Emerson (patrick_emerson@esu.org) if you wish to attend (and give a rough number if you're coming in a group, please). Please note that he will not confirm RSVPs. Please assume you may attend once you send the mail.
Although competitors typically choose to wear black tie, there is no overall dress code for this event. Wearing what you've been working/studying in that day would be fine.
The motion will be announced for competitors and on BD on April 14th.
