Dear Debaters of Iona and beyond,
On behalf of the Dublin City University Debating Society, I would like to invite you to our open competition. It will be held on the 28th and 29th of March 2008 in DCU, Dublin, Ireland.
For your €60 registration fee you will get a themed fancy dress party, loads of food and drink, great judging and motions by our CA Diarmuid Early and the chance to win some of our €600 prize fund. We also have some non-debating related games that will run throughout the competition, but we are sworn to secrecy on the details until you all arrive.
We are offering a €200 prize fund for the best pro-am team on the tab (with an am being defined as someone in their first year of university debating, excluding those who spoke or judged at Worlds this year) as well as €400 to the overall winners.
For international teams we are offering crash as well as a pick up service from Dublin airport. Cheap flights from most European cities are available via Aer Lingus and Ryanair
This will be the last Irish tournament of the year, and with five rounds of seven minute speeches will be a great way to end a greatyear for Irish debating.
Registration is now open and you can register institutional, composite and independent teams by emailing dcuopen@gmail.com
With a team cap of 32, space is limited so I would urge you to sign up as soon as you can, as well as join our facebook group at http://dcu.facebook.com/group.php?gid=7079744588
Regards
