The postal ballot to seek the World Schools Debating Council's endorsement for proposals to incorporate the World Schools Debating Championships as a charity in the United Kingdom has now closed.
25 of the 31 countries eligible to vote submitted their ballot forms. These
25 countries were: Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, England, Estonia,
Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Kuwait,
Lithuania, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Peru, Romania, Scotland,
Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, and Wales.
The results of the ballot are as follows:
Votes in favour of the proposals - 24
Votes against the proposals - 1
This is a fairly clear endorsement for the principle of incorporation. The
Executive Committee will thus continue to develop plans towards
incorporation, and will update the Council on its progress in Seoul.
Regards,
Mark Gabriel
Secretary
World Schools Debating Council Executive Committee
