email from Koc: Judging and Registration Update

Hello again from Istanbul,
We’re delighted to confirm a few names for the judging panel at Istanbul 2006, Koc University, Turkey. Bear in mind, we’re waiting for a couple more confirmations so this isn’t a complete list. Also please read to the bottom for further details on registration etc.

The Team (so far)

Jeremy Brier (Chief Adjudicator): We’re delighted to have Jeremy on board. He is a World Champion (Singapore 2004) and Worlds DCA (Malaysia 2005), all round debating legend and now a barrister in London.

Anat Gelber (DCA): Anat is going to be DCA at Istanbul Euros 2007 and has been the leading ESL speaker in the world for some time. She was top ESL speaker at both Worlds 2006 and Euros 2005.

Fraser Campbell (DCA): Fraser was DCA for Istanbul 2005 and is a European Champion (Haifa 2002) as well as Worlds Semi-Finalist (twice). He is an incredibly young Fellow of All Souls College (Oxford) and we’re delighted to have him back.

As we said, we’re waiting on a couple of confirmations and we’ll announce the full team in the coming days. If there are still people who would like to apply, e-mail Can and Jeremy (can_-@hotmail.com and jeremy-@hotmail.com). Even if there isn’t a place on the Adjudication Team, we may be able to sort out cheap registration for a number of extra judges.

As for registration: we’re just ironing a couple of things with the online payment system. Registration will happen from next week at: istanbul2006.ku.edu.tr

Don’t register before then, it may muddle the system. The fee is a shockingly low 75 Euros until June after which it will rise to 95 Euros. Everything is included in that (really, everything).
