Irish Times Result

Trinity College Historical Society (Niamh Ni Mhaoileoin & Niall Sherry) have won the 2010 Irish Times Debating Final. Sean O'Quigley won the individual award.

It was the 50th anniversary of the championships


The motion was “This House Believes that Ireland Owes a Debt of Gratitude to Fianna Fáil 1926 – 2010”.

The final was held at the Helix in Dublin City University.

The winner in the individual category, and winner of the Christina Murphy Memorial Trophy, was Sean O’Quigley from Griffith College Dublin.

Nobel laureate and former first minister of Northern Ireland Lord David Trimble chaired the debate.

Canada win World Schools WSDC

Canada have won the 2010 world schools debating championships.
They defeated England 8-3 in the final.

Motion: THB the United States should withdraw from the Middle East

Canada defeated Singapore by 9-0

WSDC half way tab

If you are looking to see how your natonal team is doing half way through the 2010 World Schools Debating Championships the adjudication team have released a tab half way through. 

You can find this tab here

After all 8 rounds the top 16 teams progress to the knock out rounds.

WSDC 2010 Round 0 Results

As there is an odd number of teams at World Schools each round has one team sitting out with a "bye".  The 8 bye teams need to make up an extra debate so that very team debates 8 times.  Therefore we have round 0.
